itunesYes … yes GV Mobile is back, but better.  Now that Apple as relaxed it’s policies regarding application submission GV Mobile is coming back starting today.  Just approved moments ago.

GV Mobile+ is a what Google would of done if they actually wanted to program for the iPhone any more.  It is a full featured Google Voice iPhone application.  It gives you the ablity to dial from your contacts as well as see your voicemails.

Voicemails are arranged just like the native iPhone application where you seem them in a visual way.  You can set the phone you wish to ring to, and much more.  You don’t even have to use your contacts, you can use the in app dialer if needed.

This is a great app.  Yes you will have to repurchase the application if you had the original GV Mobile app, but hey it’s only $2.99.  Just buy 1 less soda, or talk a walk with the family instead of eating out.  It will truly pay for itself.

Found a great program that will allow you to cut your monthly rate by removing your monthly txt plan.

Textnow allows you send txt and mms messages without having a texting plan with your carrier.  It really shines with an iPod Touch or even an iPad where you might only have WiFi access.

I can honestly say this program is pimp which landed us a top rating.  We only had small issues that were easily solved.  The only negative thing we can think of is that you do have to pay $0.99 for the application then $7.99 for a lifetime subscription.

There is another program called Textfree that also allows you to do the same thing … so why this one?  Textnow allows you to also send pictures, have custom wallpapers, oh yea and it’s cheaper!  Take a look at the feature and pricing chart bellow and you’ll see how much money you’ll save, or rather how much your currently wasting.

$7.99 for lifetime unlimited txt messages.  If you don’t pick up this application you will be sorry.

As a freelance coder I have submitted my time at the end of the project and I know it took me 4hrs to complete, but where did all that time actually go?  Did I really spend that much time trying to figure that out, or was it the graphics that killed me this time around?  Now I can honestly say, using TimeTracker has perfected my time tracking.TimeTracker is designed to do fill the nitch of tracking your time, and down to the level of detail that you want.  You can track a 1 task quickly by pressing 1 button, or setup a project where you could have many tasks involved.
 
In the example of creating a website where there is finding a host, creating the graphics, coding the backend, and setting up the dbase it is hard to track down where you are losing time.   In this example I found that I wasn’t as proficient in creating a MySQL dbase and it would be cheaper for me to hire a friend to help out with in the end.  This is the level of detail that you can have with TimeTracker.

Now you have the data in your iPhone, how do you get it out?  TimeTracker has even figured that out as well by allowing you to export a .csv file and even allowing you to filter some items out to get what you need.

We would highly recommend this product to anyone that is a freelancer, work for yourself, or just want to see where your time went in your day this will be your best friend.

itunesAs promised from yesterday’s post, I found a better application.  If you can remember, my major complaint of yesterday’s application was that I wanted to find things in my area it was no help.

I have a 2year old daughter that I take along with me everywhere, and sometimes I am a little careless and lose track of time.  If I am an hour away from my house and in a pinch I can open FastFood and find the nearest fastfood restaurant so I can grab a quick meal so she isn’t hungry.

The program is neatly organized by restaurant so finding the nearest Olive Garden or McDonalds is quick and simple to do.  I have personally used this in at my house as well as Las Vegas with no hiccups.  With over 75+ restaurant locations you can’t go wrong with this application.

iPlacemarks is an application that is free, and still not worth downloading.  I put that there so you don’t  even need to read more and save your time.  But if you want to ….

The idea of iPlacemarks is to find your local Jamba Juice quickly from your home screen.  You know for that one time when your drunk and forget your favorite Jamba Juice is because you visit it so often you need to place a bookmark to re-find it again.  I have no clue what Jamba Juice is, but I can confidently tell you there isn’t one within a 50mile radius.

When you open the program, it does look nice but it doesn’t actually do anything.  When you click on say Peet’s, it opens Safari where you complete everything else.  So this really could have been a website maybe instead of another iPhone App.  And what the heck is Peet’s any way.

So the program can’t be all that bad can it?  If I wanted to know where the nearest Sonic is and I didn’t know this program couldn’t even help you.  Trust me, I’ll totally find a way better application tomorrow.
